My vision:
I am committed to achieving the following objectives within the KUCSC as Vice President Student Events:
- Enhance and enrich the student experience by actively supporting and communicating with administration, my commissioners, and students at large.
- Unite and empower student leaders at King’s to provide meaningful opportunities for all students to make the most out of their university experience.
- Ensure that pre-existing student events are successful and sustainable by examining the fundamental aspects of these initiatives, facilitating positive discourse to both maintain and enhance the VP Student Events portfolio.
- Implement new and meaningful student events or initiatives and ensure that they are reflective of what the student population wants to see in their student experience.
- Utilize available resources to ensure all students campus-wide have equal access to events both on and off campus, and have knowledge of these events prior to their occurrence.
my platform:
- Provide forums for feedback regarding KUCSC events from both students and administration, be they online through the KUCSC Facebook or hard copy printed surveys. Communication and feedback from students is key!
- Facilitate dialogue with students regarding the events they have seen or would like to see on campus in future.
- Meet with commissioners on a regular basis to ensure that all events under the portfolio are moving at a suitable pace. Minimum: meetings of 2 weeks and 1 month prior to all major events.
- More events for more students. This entails working with club execs, the Soph team, residence council, off campus commissioners, and students at large to create more small scale, low budget events for all students.
- Be present as a face for events at King’s; meaning more office hours, open dialogue with students regarding events, and taking ownership of critiques and positive criticism to better the portfolio for future events and the for years after my term.
- Work with the VP Student Issues to organize coffee houses with various themes for awareness weeks or for various charity initiatives through KUCSC commissioners as these are very low budget and small scale events.
- Working with Mary Carol Watters the Dean of Students, and the Alumni Affairs office to facilitate and organize a “Careers and Coffee” once each semester.
- Foster a closer working relationship with student government both at Brescia and Huron in order to facilitate more events for all our students across campuses.
- Work closely with the Head Soph Team to ensure that the KUCSC has a highly visible and approachable role throughout the week. Specifically, I want to host an information session during the academic day for first year students to ask questions about their opportunities to get involved with council early on, such as first year representative positions, members of promo team, etc.
